365 DoW: Day Five

7 April 2016

Today’s prompt: Alma Mater!  You’ve been asked to speak at your high school alma mater—about the path of life (whoa).  Draft the speech.

Speech:

Hello everyone!  It’s interesting to be back at Pine Ridge Secondary School to talk to you guys today.  I’m here to talk to you about the path of life.  I know, it’s a daunting concept.

As someone who has been where you are sitting, I understand how you may be feeling.  Your future seems daunting.  There’s so many options and choices you need to make.  What’s important is to remember, do what makes you happy!  As Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail”.  Focus less on what others are doing and accomplishing and spend more time focusing on what you can do and accomplish.  Choose to write your own destiny.  Life is about finding yourself, so try new things, make hard choices, eat dessert first, and most importantly, pave your own way in the world, because you are worthy of your wildest dreams!  Thank you and enjoy your future endeavors.
