365 DoW: Day Nine

11 April 2016

Today’s prompt: Press it!  Give some love to three blog posts that you’ve read and loved in the past week, and tell us why they’re worth reading.

I’ve had a very busy week so I haven’t really had a chance to go on my computer and do a lot of reading.  Due to my lack of blog checking this week, I only have one new post to include this week.  However, I am going to include a special second post of a blog post that I read this week that is fairly old.

Post One:

Post: “How to Compose a Superhero Theme, According to the Musicians Behind Avengers, Iron Man & More

I found this post incredibly insightful.  I’ve always loved the compositions in big superhero movies, so I was really excited when this blog posted this piece.  The post gave insight into how composers who worked on movies such as Iron Man, Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy and Star Wars create such wonderful masterpieces to compliment the films.  The piece goes on to explain what mindset the composers find themselves in in order to create a piece of music that fits with a certain character.  Because, after all, that’s what is most important—creating a piece of music that when heard, instantly makes the audience think of that particular superhero.  The post uses Vision’s theme from The Avengers: Age of Ultron as an example of an unusual superhero theme.  As described in the post, you don’t really know whose side he is on when we first meet him, so his theme represents that, with a bit of a mysterious quality to it.

I’ve always loved movie soundtracks and this post was a great read about how some of the themes are created.  You should definitely check it out!

Post Two:

Blog Post: Harry Potter Fan Pitches Amazing Game of Thrones Style Hogwarts Founders TV Series

This is a slightly old post from November 2015 which I just discovered this week.  This post is absolutely incredible.  A fan of Harry Potter has come up with a unique idea for a television series about the four founders of Hogwarts—Godric Gryfindor, Rowena Ravenclaw, Helga Hufflepuff, and Salazar Slytherin.  This blog post goes on to outline the idea for the show, as well as including some really neat casting ideas for the main characters.  My favourite part of this post—and why you should definitely check it out if you’re a fan of Harry Potter—is the trailer that was created for this pitch.  Be sure to follow the link and check it out!

Who would be your dream cast for the founding members of Hogwarts?  Let me know in the comments below!
