365 DoW: Day Twenty Five

27 April 2016

Today’s prompt: Wall to wall! What do you display on the walls of your home—photos, posters, artwork, nothing?  How do you choose what to display? What mood are you trying to create?

I don’t have my own house (yet) so I don’t really have much say in what goes on the walls in the rest of the house.  My bedroom, however, is another story.  When I was younger—elementary school age—I chose to paint my room this really nice vibrant blue-y turquoise colour.  I have always loved the ocean and dolphins, so I had my dad hand paint a giant dolphin on the wall beside my bed.  The colour of my room hasn’t changed over the years and I still have that dolphin painted.  I even have the other ocean themed decorations I’ve collected over the years.

However, as I got older, I started to add other things to my walls as well.  I have two paintings that I created on my walls—one a really cool Iron Man/Tony Stark silhouette in red and black, and one of the Tardis flying over the Earth in a starry sky.  I’ve also added a really cool Sherlock Holmes metal poster that my friend bought for me when she was teaching in the UK.

If I had a house of my own, I would probably put up a lot more of my artwork.  I’ve done some really cool silhouettes of some of my favourite characters, (Sam Winchester, Sherlock Holmes, and one day the 11th Doctor, Matt Smith).  I love movies, television, and reading, so I’d probably incorporate pieces from my favourite fandoms throughout my house.  Decorating my own house is actually one of the things I’m really looking forward to about finally getting my own place!
